September 28th 2000 marked the 1st day of the 2nd Intifada, also known as the Al-Aqsa Intifada. More than 1,000 Israelis and 5,000 Palestinians died in this bloody era. Along with Dr. Ido Zelkovitz, we tried to understand, what happened, what’s sparked the 2nd Intifada, and what was Yasser Arafat’s (Former chairman of the PLO and President of the Palestinian Authority) part in the Intifada.
Dr. Zelkovitz is an Israeli historian and researcher of the modern Middle East. He is a research fellow at the University of Haifa, a Policy fellow at Mitvim – The Israeli Institute for Regional Foreign Affairs, and the Head of Middle Eastern Studies at the Yisrael Valley College.
